It doesn't make sense unless there is something else going on. exactly. I wonder if the deal was floated out of Edmonton? - landros 2
I would take Yakapov but like Bill said I would want him as part of a bigger deal like the 4th pick coming back. Which doesn't make sense on the Oilers end.
All these trade rumors are silly, there is ZERO reason to trade any of our prospects unless its a deal you can't refuse. We have no idea who will develop as projected, so the more kids we have the greater chance we are to hit on them all.
We don't have many off seasons left of rebuilding like this one (hopefully) so im really in no hurry to trade prospects for players to make the team better now. Id rather look for steals toward the end of FA.

With the cap seemingly staying stagnate it will be interesting to see what RFA's don't get QO. Also with possible buyouts you might be able to get a guy cheap.
Frankly the most id trade is Hagg 1 for 1, and im not even sure id make that trade. - flyers4487
I wouldn't. Hagg is still young, and according to Bill, really turned his play up a notch to close his season out. Right now, Hagg is a somewhat unknown commodity, while Yakupov is poor known. As Bill said, he's one bad season away from a trip to the KHL, and there's no way I'm giving up anything more than a B- prospect (Weal/Dove-McFalls type) for him.
I quite literally laughed at that rumor yesterday.
Hexy, with his great track record so far, is gonna give up one of our more valuable prospects and then some? For a lazy, one way, semi skilled player, that looks clueless on the ice?? I mean... come on ek... even if you did hear that from a "source", when does common sense come into play??? Lol

Adding in the swap of #4 for #18 would at least make this a credible rumor
However, I'd still be pretty leery of making that deal. From what I've seen from Yak over the last couple of years he looks like a bust. He floats most of the time, and only seems to give any real effort in the O zone. Defensively he's a nightmare. So, basically, you'd be swapping Sanheim and #18 for #4, and, unless you are moving into the top 3, I'm not interested in moving Sanheim.

Oh, it's going to happen.
Right after Malkin goes to LA (Kopitar) or Chicago (Toews) to be "the man." I mean, salary cap be damned, the logic is sound.
